The next Star Wars game described by job listing
When Amy Hennig left Naughty Dog last year to join EA’s Visceral Games, fans wondered what she’d be working on. The former creative director of the Uncharted series was reported to be working on a Star Wars game, but few details have emerged since then.
A job posting online has revealed that it’s going to be some kind of role-playing game, possibly open world. It lists an opening for a Senior Game Designer at Visceral, calling for interested parties to “bring your system game design skills and savvy and your love of Star Wars” to the studio by “contributing to the project vision in areas of hero control/mechanics, AI behaviors, combat/weapons, class design, skills/progression, enemy design, story and boss encounters.”
That’s not all that much, but the job listing does tell us that EA is making good on its desire to make “gigantic action games.” Earlier this year, EA established a studio in Montreal named EA Motive. It’s under the leadership under superproducer Jade Raymond. Raymond spent over a decade as a producer and creative director at Ubisoft, overseeing the development of Assassin’s Creed and management of the company’s Toronto-based studio.
So those who wanted something more out of a Star Wars experience than Star Wars Battlefront ought to be excited because between Raymond and Hennig is tons of experience with story, set piece action and character development. I mean we can only replay old Star Wars games for so long, right? Meanwhile, I’ll be here, playing Star Wars: Empire at War.
What do you think? What do you look forward to most from the talents of Amy Hennig and Jade Raymond? Are you up for the next big action-packed story game from Star Wars? Or are you looking for something else? Let us know in the comments below!
