Imperium eSports bar is officially closed
One of the first ever bars to cater to Filipino gamers, Imperium eSports Bar and Video Gaming Lounge has closed its doors.
Imperium was a rather unique spot to hang out and served its patrons, clients and guests with an eclectic combination of drinks and games. Consoles and rigs lined the spaces, while servers offered up a variety of cocktails and drinks. Imperium also hosted the Manila Cup, a competitive fighting game major that part of the 2015 Capcom Pro Tour and played host to many other gaming events.
Imperium eSports issued a statement on their official Facebook page, explaining that it was the expiration of their lease at Ortigas’ MetroWalk that led to their decision to close, rather than any other possible factors.
“On behalf of the management and staff of Imperium eSports Bar and Video Game Lounge, we would like to thank all our guests, clients and friends for your patronage,” read their statement. “To the growing eSports scene in the Philippines, Imperium eSports will still be around to help grow the industry.”
They also indicated that there remain plans to continue their support and participation in eSports. “To the fans of our Imperium Pro Teams, we remain solid and aim to be a force to contend with in all our tournaments. Your support is truly appreciated. This is not the end of Imperium but a phase of evolution. Stay tuned for the [sic] Phase Two.”
